Prof Richards and his team from UCL and LSHTM are running PREVENTT, a national trial looking at anaemia prior to major surgery. They need some help this summer with identifying patients to recruit. They are looking for patients undergoing major abdominal surgery (Colorectal UGI, urology, gynae, sarcoma), anaemic and at least 10 days pre-op.
It’s a simple interventional, cross-specialty portfolio trial which is very trainee accessible and is currently being run across 30 UK sites. A good opportunity to gain authorship on a major RCT and lead in site set-up and recruitment at your centre.
They have seen a drop in recruitment for the last 4-6 months – multifactorial – and really need surgeons to identify and flag patients from clinic etc.. One patient per site and they will be back flying. They have funding to help local teams and if recruitment did increase then they will consider authorship on the main papers.
If you’re interested, please get in contact with Prof Richards directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
