New project to join: LEGS!

Here is an announcement for a new exciting project from the North West Research Collaborative…

We would like to invite you to participate in the Laparoscopy in Emergency General Surgery (LEGS) study; a multicentre questionnaire based study of UK General Surgical Consultants to evaluate the use of the laparoscopic approach to the acute abdomen.

We would like to invite collaborators from hospitals across the UK to co-ordinate the distribution and collection of questionnaire responses within their respective institutions. We ask that paper questionnaires are anonymously completed by “General Surgical Consultants performing emergency abdominal surgery”, with data uploaded to REDCAP, a secure web-based system.

To be included as a named contributor on future publications, each collaborator should submit at minimum of 5 completed questionnaires for analysis. All collaborators that fulfil the above quota of questionnaires will be recognised on any publications resulting from the study as collaborative authors, named as part of the LEGS Collaborative Group. To be included in this study, all responses should be uploaded to REDCAP no later than 23:59 GMT on Friday 5th January 2018.

For further information about the study, please refer to the protocol which can be found on our website at https://nwresearch.org/our-projects/legs/legs-resources. If you have any other queries please contact us via email (LEGS.study@gmail.com) or Twitter @LEGS_STUDY.

If you would like to collaborate with us on this study, please contact us with you name, grade, specialty and the institution at which you are based. We understand there may be more than one interested collaborator at each site and should this be the case, we will make you aware of this upon your contact.

Once registered as a collaborator, we will forward you a printable PDF copy of the questionnaire along with instructions for using the REDCAP system.

We look forward to collaborating with you on this project.

Kind regards

LEGS Steering Committee
